Indonesia Blogwagon: The Shadowplay
A bell to call for dinner rings through the old colonial house. If you follow the sound, you arrive in a dinner room. The table is set: the smells of Daging Rendang and rice, Sajoer Lodeh and coconut. You can sit down, and enjoy the meal. But if you look around, you will notice one wall is fake, and is actually a screen. The shadows on the other side mimic your movements...
- Should you eat your meal, you slowly become a shadow yourself, transporting your consciousness to the wayang puppet across the screen. The only way to prevent the loss of your body is to thank for the meal.
As a shadow, you can ask the other puppets questions, join in on their rituals and you'll see the shadows of the living on the other side of the screen.
Should you rip down the screen, you confront two realities with each other. The power of the world of shadows striking the world of the living, creates a force field you don't want to stand in. The force field grows by 5 ft every minute the realities touch, and standing within the force field, you lose health every turn.
Should you go into the shadow world, the wayang puppets will come alive, but ignore you. As a living person you don't exist or belong in the shadow world. The puppets will eat, and thank for the abundance of food.
